Chesapeake Agricultural Innovation Center
The Chesapeake Agricultural Innovation Center supports farmers and food producers across the Mid-Atlantic in moving from field production to viable, market-ready businesses, pairing growers with technical experts through a structured mentorship program.
OBJECTIVE
To help each producer build a defensible business case for the next stage of growth. Farmers arrive with strong products and real operational skill, but often without the business infrastructure buyers require, financial models that hold up to lender or grant review, pricing that reflects true cost, and a clear path from raw commodity to value-added product.
Approach
As a business planning mentor across multiple cohorts, Taste Symmetry provides:
-
Financial modeling and business plan development: including full multi-tab financial models with integrated revenue, cost, and debt service projections, built so producers can defend their numbers to lenders, grantors, and buyers
-
Value-added product strategy: evaluating which products a farm operation can realistically produce, at what cost, and under what regulatory pathway
-
Cost of goods and pricing structure: establishing true unit economics before a producer commits to a wholesale or retail price
-
Market readiness assessment: reviewing digital presence, sell materials, and buyer-facing positioning so producers show up credibly to the accounts they're pursuing
-
Ongoing cohort mentorship: sustained one-to-one guidance through the full program cycle, not a single consultation
